Friendship Day

On July 20th we celebrate Friendship Day. This celebration is said to have sprung during a dinner where Dr. Artemio Bracho met with friends in Puerto Pinasco, Paraguay, on 20 July 1958. Friendship Day is celebrated in several countries and origins are also attributed to different reasons, like Hallmark having promoted the exchange of cards or man having landed on the Moon.

Whatever the reason why friendship has been allotted one day in the year for friends to meet and celebrate, it’s worth remembering our friends and sharing our love at least once in the year.

For your classes, explore these resources. Even if you are enjoying your holidays today, friendship is always a good topic to exploit.

Four your own enjoyment, this classic song:

Keep smiling, keep shining

Knowing you can always count on me, for sure

That's what friends are for

For in good times and in bad times

I'll be on your side forever more

That's what friends are for.
