Mind Full or Mindful?

What do we do with students that are emotionally overwhelmed? 

When we think about learning, traditionally the emphasis has been laid on contents and cognition and the role of emotions has been overlooked.

Today we know emotions need to be observed and acknowledged to make learning more effective and rewarding. Clearly, it´s high time we helped our students manage stress, reduce anxiety and focus their attention.

In this workshop, we will address the need for integrating different disciplines such as mindfulness, neurosciences and positive education in our daily teaching, not only to enhance the learning process but also to create well-being in our classrooms.

Presenters' biodata
  



Carina S. Senatore
 holds a TEFL degree from ISP N° 16 “Bernardo Houssay” and a degree in translation from IES N° 28 “Olga Cossettini”. She also got a BA in Social Pedagogy from Universidad del Salvador. She has more than twenty years’ experience in teaching different levels at various language schools and colleges, including St Patrick’s and Centro Educativo Latinoamericano. She has also participated in different educational programmess for teenagers in the USA.
She currently coordinates the secondary school Intensive English Program at CEL and in the last years she has been looking into recent developments in educational research.







Raquel Vergara Oroño is a Teacher of English. She has been teaching primary and secondary school students for 15 years. She has worked at different institutes and schools, such as St. Patrick´s and St. Bartholomew´s. She has been investigating and studying mindfulness and
neurosciences for more than 10 years, during which she has attended courses and workshops in Argentina, Ireland and the USA.
She is an amateur artist and a devoted Art Teacher. She teaches Art through English to primary school kids.
She has also gained valuable experience working with children of different levels in North Carolina and the UK. Today she keeps on studying different disciplines related to education that enhance her personal growth and professional development.
